Living with Purpose and Passion

By

Teacher with Two ChildrenAs vibrant human beings we hunger for meaning in our lives, for a purpose that is bigger than ourselves.  We want to leave an imprint on the world; we want to leave a legacy for future generations.  We want people’s lives to be better, because we were here.  We want to know that we’ve mattered and that we’ve made a difference before we die.

Your purpose transcends all of your goals.  It is the umbrella under which all other things in your life can be found.  It is the thing that connects all parts of your life to your soul.  It is the energy that drives you each day, that propels you to do even more powerful and meaningful work.  It is the force that reminds you that you are truly alive.

Purpose is intimately tied to passion.  You can think of purpose as the reason you take specific action or the end result of having taken that action.  Passion, on the other hand, allows you to fulfill that reason; it helps you get to the end result.  Passion suggests desire which, when expressed through you, demands that you take action to fulfill your purpose.

Too often, though, people spend their lives living someone else’s purpose.  When you live someone else’s purpose, you will find yourself constantly disappointed with life, because what you are doing, how you are spending your time, never truly fills your soul.  You know in your heart of hearts that you are not being true to yourself.  Your purpose, your passion, and your contribution are about who you are at your very core; it is not about the person that someone else wants you to be.

When you live on purpose, you will enjoy peace of mind, and you will feel, think, and act more alive.  Living on purpose means that you are living a life that matters.  You are energized, you are driven, you are grateful, and you know you’re making a difference.    Living on purpose brings you peace of mind and a joy that only the heart truly understands.
